James Howard Harrell

James Howard Harrell died Friday, Dec. 20, 2019. He was 78. 

Born in Vicksburg to the late Hulon Monroe Harrell and Idalie Schultz Harrell, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Illinois Central Railroad. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyne Ann Clowers and Marilyn Gray.

He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Powell (Thomas) of Madison; three grandchildren, James Michael Turner (Laney), Megan Danielle Turner and Mary Elizabeth Bridges (Stephen); four great-grandchildren, Marisol Turner, Dawson Turner, Preslee Turner and Jude Bridges; a brother, Robert Harrell (Margaret) of Marion, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Riles Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. 

Pallbearers will be Owen Cole, Jerry Johnson, Bob Baylor, Johnny Rees, Carlos Porter and Danny McClendon. Honorary pallbearer will be Frank Norwood.
