Mary Louise Brown

Mary Louise Brown transitioned from her earthly home to heaven Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, at Merit Health Central Mississippi Medical Center.

Ms. Brown was born Feb. 27, 1944, to the late Dennis and Mary Brown. She served as an usher at Cedar Grove M.B. Church for 20-plus years and worked with Mississippi Action For Progress (MAP) for over 20 years.

She retired from Ameristar as an environmental specialist. She was a graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School Class of 1962.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Pauline Harris, Frankie Lightfoot, JoAnn Brown and Lorene Tate; her brothers, James Brown, LeRoy Brown, Bobby Jack Brown, Dennis Brown III and Fred Johnson; and nephews, Marcus Brown and Vincent Tate.

Survivors include her sons, Christopher (J’Nitra) Brown and Jon (Ashley) Brown; sister, Caneria Garrett; brothers, Harry Brown, Terry Brown, Earnest Paul Brown and Dennis Johnson; grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and other relatives and friends, and a special cousin, Mary Pettis.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at Cedar Grove M. B. Church with pastor Dr. Demond A. Guyton officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedar Grove M.B. Church Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 1 to 6 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m.
