Police investigating Sunday shooting

A Vicksburg man is recovering at University of Mississippi Medical Center from gunshot wounds he received when he was shot in his car early Sunday morning.

According to police reports, the man was sitting in his car at about 1:56 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the South Street Shopette, 1318 South St., when several men approached the car from behind. The men walked to the driver’s side of the car and fired multiple shots from handguns at the car, wounding the unidentified man four times.

Officers arrived to find the man still in his car.

The man’s condition is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

While police continue to investigate, they are asking the community’s help with information on this shooting. If anyone has information, they are asked to call CrimeStoppers at 601-355-8477.

In other reports:

• Friday, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 800 block of Adams Street. When they arrived, the officers found no activity in the area and no evidence of shots being fired.

• Just after midnight on Saturday, officers responded to a report of shooting into an occupied dwelling in the 100 block of Drusilla Lane. There were no reported injuries. This is currently under investigation.

• On Sunday, officers took a report of auto theft on Elm Lane. The complainant reported someone had taken his 2008 Ford F-150 pick-up truck during the previous night.
