A Porter’s Chapel Academy student has been arrested for posting a threat to the school on social media.

According to the school’s interim headmaster, Lynn Baker, a posting to Snapchat by a 16-year-old male student was published Monday evening but school administration officials were not made aware of the threat until Tuesday morning.

“Obviously the first thing we did was call the police,” Baker said.

Capt. Mike Bryant, with the Vicksburg Police Department, said officers quickly responded and “conducted a thorough search of the facility. No device was found.”

Officials with the Vicksburg Police Department confirmed the student had been taken into custody Tuesday and that there was no explosive device found.

Baker said the student Tuesday morning “immediately said he was joking.”

Bryant said the suspect was taken into custody and was being housed in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.
