He said the thefts were discovered about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday by golf course maintenance workers arriving for work. Taken were a John Deere Gator UTV, a small welding machine, gas can, chainsaw, tools and personal items belonging to employees.

Later in the day, deputies recovered an ice chest belonging to an employee on Henry Lake Road and later found the Gator behind a vacant house in the 9800 block of Freetown Road. Deputies also found a car that was abandoned and stuck in the mud.

The stolen gas can was found in the car, and a car tag check gave Hill’s address on Clear Creek Road. Deputies went to the house, executed a search warrant and found a pair of boots belonging to a golf course employee.

Pace said the case remains under investigation.
