“She felt the mastery of each enhances abilities in others and subject matter directs the artist in media,” director of Gore Galleries Randy Jolly said.

This weekend, some of Pajerski’s work will be up for sale at the Firehouse Gallery, 1204 Main St.

Jolly said Pajerski’s family left the bulk of her artwork to Mississippi College and after the Department of Art selected about 250 works to represent her in their permanent collection, the rest of the collection was to be sold with proceeds going to the Vicksburg Art Association and the Elizabeth Pajerski Endowment Fund at MC, which provides scholarships to young promising artists.

“Beth was an avid supporter of young talent. The family felt this was a great way to carry on her legacy,” Jolly said.

Pajerski is a graduate from Dodd College in Shreveport, La. She also studied at Howard Payne College in Brownwood, Texas; All Saints College in Vicksburg; Millsaps College in Jackson; Delta State University in Cleveland; the Santa Fe Contemporary Art Workshop in Santa Fe and the Positano Art Workshop in Italy.

Jolly said Pajerski also loved to travel and when she and her husband, Frank, went to places like Portugal, Ireland, the former Yugoslavia, and other places, she always carried several sketchpads and small watercolor pads and palette with her to make sketches when they traveled.

“One of their favorite places was the Isle of Madeira; the spot where Churchill once painted,” he said. “Elizabeth’s work is full of energy and life. It has been said that color was her forte.”

The art sale will run from 1 until 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
