Warren County officials said Monday voters who cast their ballot at the Brunswick precinct, which is hosted at the Eagle Lake Volunteer Fire Department, will continue to do so despite flooding in the area and Highway 465 closed due to flooding.

During Monday’s work session, Warren County District 2 Supervisor William Banks said he and election officials decided not to move the polling location from the fire department ahead of the March 10 primary elections.

Warren County Circuit Clerk Jan Daigre said Tuesday any voter displaced by flooding may vote with an absentee ballot at the circuit clerk’s office on the second floor of the Warren County Courthouse. Absentee voting ends at noon Saturday, March 7.

In the midst of last year’s historic Yazoo Backwater Area Flood, when access to Eagle Lake was all but cut off, county and election officials moved the precinct to Redwood United Methodist Church for the August primary elections. It was later moved back to the Eagle Lake Volunteer Fire Department for November’s statewide general election.

The precinct is the voting location for just over 300 registered voters in the community.
