Patricia Simmons Geiger

On March 21, 2020, three days prior to her 80th birthday, Patricia Simmons Geiger died peacefully at home on her Brownsville farm surrounded by her family and her dogs.

A native of Vicksburg, Patricia was born March 24, 1940, the second child of the late Hallie Price and James Louis Simmons Sr.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Daniel Geiger and her son, James Dalton Buford; as well as her brothers, James Louis Simmons Jr. and John David Simmons.

Patricia is survived by daughters, Carolyn Buford Derriso (Claude), Susan Buford House (Jimmy); son, Mark Alan Geiger (Stacie); grandchildren, George Aaron Stewart (Renee), Allie Hathorn Benton (Andrew), Grant Alan Geiger and Hallie Gray House.

Additionally, she is survived by great-grandchildren, Courtney Danielle Stewart, Jayden Carter Stewart, Robert Weston Benton and Daniel Price Benton.

She leaves behind siblings, Carolyn Simmons Douglas, Charles Wayne Simmons, and Brenda Simmons Mann.

Patricia graduated from Culkin Academy. Her lifelong career as an accomplished and admired nurse began in Vicksburg at the revered Sisters of Mercy Hospital. Her education was continued at the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing.

Patricia was known for a stunning beauty that never faded and a beautiful singing voice.  Described by many that knew her well as a force of nature; her quick wit and effervescent charm lit up every room she entered. She will be profoundly missed by those whose lives she touched.

A graveside service will be held at noon at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery on Friday, March 27, 2020.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Benton, Mark Geiger, Claude Derriso, Jimmy House, Grant Geiger, and Aaron Stewart.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Jackson, Mississippi, animal rescue center Cheshire Abbey, or the GlioBlastoma Foundation.
