Pecolia Sims

Graveside services for Mrs. Pecolia Sims are to be held Saturday, April 4 at 11 a.m. in the Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. John Henry Williams officiating under the direction of  W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. There will be a visitation held Friday, April 3 at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m.

Due to the COVID-19 mandate, we ask that during the visitation that a 10-person maximum number of people in the chapel at any one time and at the funeral service no more than 25 persons.  We ask the public’s cooperation in these trying times as we help the Sims family with their loved one.

Pecolia Sims passed away on March 24 at her home following a brief illness. She was 99. She was a homemaker and member of Greater Mt. Lebanon M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Williams; mother, Lenora Derring; her husband, Louis Sims Sr.; her daughter, Lillie Westerfield; her brothers, Fred Derring and Nathaniel Derring; and her sisters, Tressie Berryhill and Rose Derring.

She is survived by her two sons, Louis Sims Jr. of McCalla, Ala. and Robert Sims of Melville, Ga; her two daughters, Viola Simms of Vicksburg and Ruby Wiggins of Perry; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
