The Mississippi State Department of Health Saturday announced 97 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 1,455. It also announced the number of virus-related deaths had grown to 35.

In Warren County, the number of confirmed cases grew to three and the state reported there is one long-term healthcare facility that is being investigated for an outbreak. The Post has learned that the facility is KPC Promise Hospital, where a patient tested positive for COVID-19 more than a week ago. That patient, who is from Rankin County, has been at the facility for more than two months, but did not arrive at the facility with the illness.

The statewide shelter-in-place order issued Wednesday by Gov. Tate Reeves went into effect Friday at 5 p.m. Also going into effect at 5 p.m. was a series of additional restrictions announced Thursday by Vicksburg and Warren County officials.

The local orders, which include additional restrictions on businesses and closures, including the county-controlled Cedar Creek Golf Course, also include a city-wide juvenile curfew that lasts from 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. each day. This is in addition to another city-wide curfew, for all other residents, that goes from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day.
