Crime reports: Curfew stop leads to another arrest for drug possession

An early Friday morning stop by Vicksburg Police enforcing the city’s curfew led to a brief chase and discovery of drugs.

According to reports from the Vicksburg Police Department, Ruben Williams, 27, of Vicksburg, was stopped after a chase for being out after curfew. 

During the stop, he was discovered to be in possession of cocaine.

Williams was charged with possession of a controlled substance, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, giving false information to a police officer, driving with an expired license and curfew violation. 

He appeared before  Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court Friday, where his bond was set at $5,000. His case was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.

In another arrest, Jadariuce Devoils, 19, of Vicksburg was arrested Thursday in connection with the recovery of firearms reported stolen in 2019. 

Devoils appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court Friday on a charge of possession of a stolen firearm. His bond was set at $20,000 and his case was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury. 

Wednesday, officers of the Vicksburg Police Department Narcotics/NET Team arrested Khristoffer Hearron, 47, of Vicksburg, charging him with one count of tampering with physical evidence and appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court Friday. 

His bond was set at $20,000 and he was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.

In other reports:

• Thursday, at 2:16 p.m., officers responded to the Carr Central Apartments, 1805 Cherry Street, in reference to a reported auto burglary. The victim reported someone entered his 2011 Toyota Camry and his Taurus .40 caliber handgun was taken from the vehicle.

• On Thursday, at 6:20 p.m., officers contacted a citizen at the Police Department in reference to a theft that occurred in the 3600 block of North Washington Street. The victim reported that between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, a handgun was taken from the residence. The victim reported the suspect has since contacted the victim, stating that he was going to sell the gun if he was not given any money to return it.

• On Thursday, at 9:07 p.m., officers responded to the New Main Apartments in reference to shots fired into an apartment. The victims reported they were inside their apartment when they heard several shots coming from outside in the parking lot. The building was struck several times, and officers located one vehicle in the parking lot that was struck in the rear fender.

• On Tuesday, at 8:21 a.m., officers responded to an address on Maxwell Drive in reference to a burglary. The victim reported an unknown person entered their storage unit and stole 3-antique doors, an antique chest-of-drawers and a stainless steel washing machine.

• On Wednesday, at 4:17 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2500 block of Dot Street in reference to a residential burglary. The victim reported someone broke into the unoccupied residence and stole a 110 air conditioner.
