Chamber’s monthly luncheon to move online

Published 1:39 pm Saturday, April 18, 2020

Throughout the past weeks, the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce has coordinated conference calls for its members to understand pending legislation aimed at helping businesses through the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 virus.

It has held virtual meetings to explain new benefits and programs to support local workers and offered advice to businesses on how to navigate through this unprecedented time in our country and our economy.

It has also found a way to keep its membership connected by resuming its monthly luncheons. This time, though, the setting won’t be at the Vicksburg Convention Center, nor will the food be catered by Palmertree Catering.

Instead, the luncheon, scheduled for Wednesday, April 29 at noon, will be held on Zoom, the online video networking app.

Using the program, the chamber hopes to bring together many of its members for its monthly meetings, take the chance to share important information and updates from the chamber and offer a presentation by award-winning editorial cartoonist and Mississippi journalist Marshall Ramsey.

Ramsey is the editor-at-large for Mississippi Today and is a two-time Pulitzer Finalist. His work is nationally syndicated by Creators Syndicate.

He is the author of several books including three cartoon collections, two short story collections (Fried Chicken and Wine, and Chainsaws and Casseroles) and a children’s book Banjo’s Dream. In addition, he is also host of the weekly statewide radio program, Now You’re Talking with Marshall Ramsey and the television program Conversation on Mississippi Public Broadcasting.

While the meeting is virtual, reservations are still required.

Those wanting to attend can register online at www.vicksburgusa.com. For those who have any questions, can call the chamber at 601-636-1012.

Once you have registered, you will receive a link to join the luncheon via Zoom. There is no registration cost.
