State, county COVID-19 cases increase overnight; state reports largest-single increase in daily numbers

Mississippi State Health Department officials Sunday reported the single largest increase number of confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus when they confirmed 300 new cases since Saturday.

The total number of cases statewide now stands at 4,274 with 159 virus-related deaths.

The number of confirmed cases in Warren County also jumped, growing three overnight to 21 in all.

In Claiborne County, the number of confirmed cases grew to 10, while the number in Hinds County grew to 337. The number of virus-related deaths in Hinds County remained at five.

Sharkey County remained at three, while Issaquena County has yet to report its first case.

In Yazoo County, state officials reported the number of confirmed cases increased to 91 overall with still one virus-related death.

In Madison Parish, La., there are now four confirmed cases.
