JACKSON — Millsaps College men’s basketball coach Jimmy Smith has stepped down from the job to become the head coach at Trinity University.

Smith totaled 38 wins in three seasons at Millsaps, including a 17-10 mark in 2019-20. That was the most wins for a Millsaps men’s basketball team — and first winning record — since the 2007-08 squad finished with a 28-5 record.

While leading the Majors, Smith coached seven All-Southern Athletic Association award winners, and 12 All-SAA Academic Honor Roll selections.
