Warren County confirmed cases see largest one-day increase

Wednesday marked the largest increase in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Warren County since the first local case was reported in late March.

In the report issued by the Mississippi State Department of Health Wednesday, the number of confirmed cases in the county grew to 29, an increase of four new cases since Tuesday.

Officials also announced another 178 new cases in the state, which brought the statewide total to 4,894. They also reported 10 additional virus-related deaths, bringing the total number of deaths caused by the virus to 193.

In the days since the first case was reported in Warren County, which was Sunday, March 29, the county has averaged 1.2 new cases reported each day.

As of Wednesday, two Warren County residents have died from the virus, the second being reported just Monday.
