Marguerite Alice Price-Flowers

Marguerite Alice Price-Flowers, 93, of Springfield, Mo. passed away at 11 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2020, from heart complications. Marguerite was born November 23, 1926, in Vicksburg to Sam and Marguerite Price. She went on to graduate from Culkin Academy High School where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. Marguerite also attended All Saints College on a full scholarship.

Marguerite was married to Luther Wells for 24 years and had three daughters, Sandra, Alice and Pam. They traveled as a family internationally for several years.

In South America, Marguerite found her love for art and painting. She painted many beautiful landscapes during her lifetime. Marguerite’s love for being a lifelong learner was a great motivator for her daughters. She inspired them to do well in school.

She cherished books, sewing, crocheting and enjoyed her daily news. She taught her girls how to love others before self by her devotion to her invalid mother. Marguerite loved her grandkids beyond measure. She loved God and lived her life accordingly. 

Marguerite and Luther started their family in Springhill, La. and Natchez until 1958 and moved to Pine Bluff, Ark. when the paper company opened. She taught school in a Headstart program and was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church.  Marguerite gave many years of love as a caregiver to her mother, Marguerite Moore Price, in her home. 

In 1975, Marguerite married Johnny W. Flowers of Vicksburg, where they lived for many years until retiring in Springfield, Mo. Marguerite and Johnny were active members of Christ Episcopal Church. 

Marguerite was preceded in death by husband, Johnny W. Flowers; parents, Sam and Marguerite Price; brothers, Shelby (Audrey) Price, Sammy (Leatha) Price; sister, Lorraine Fischer; and grandson, Jared Jenkins.

She is survived by a sister, Betty Henson of Tupelo; daughters, Sandra (Robert) Kubik of Springfield, Mo., Alice (Morris) Jenkins of Hot Springs Village, Ark. and Pamela (Philip) Miller of Glenwood, Ark.; grandchildren; Brian (Ashley) Kubik, Greg (Victoria) Kubik, Brad (Renae) Kubik, Josh (Rachel) Jenkins, Brandon (Valerie) Ruhl, Eric (Paige) Ruhl, Megan Jenkins and Nathan Randall; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation Saturday, April 25, 2020, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
