Latest report shows tragic one-day increase in statewide virus-related deaths

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Mississippi took another leap overnight Tuesday, increasing 330 to now 8,207.

Tuesday’s report by the Mississippi State Department of Health also marked the largest one-day increase in the number of virus-related deaths. In their report, the state reported 32 additional deaths, bringing the pandemic total to 342.

In Warren County, the number of confirmed cases grew to 88 overall. That is an increase of five since Monday.

The number of confirmed cases in Claiborne County is continuing a recent spike, now standing at 33 confirmed cases. Yazoo County Tuesday reported 154 cases with two virus-related deaths.

Sharkey County continues to report five cases, while Issaquena remains the only county in the state to not yet report a positive case.

Madison Parish is continuing to report eight confirmed cases.

In Hinds County, which has the most number of cases of any county in Mississippi, there are now 565 confirmed cases with nine virus-related deaths.
