While the suspect believed to have pulled the trigger in a murder Friday afternoon is in custody, a suspect who helped her flee the scene remains on the loose.

Summer McGee, 20, of Yazoo County, is currently being held in the Adams County Jail, charged with the first-degree murder of 37-year-old Moses Luckett.

According to the Vicksburg Police Department, McGee allegedly shot Luckett once in the chest in an apartment at New Main Apartments on Alcorn Drive shortly after noon Friday. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Luckett suffering from the gunshot wound in the apartment. He would later die from his injury.

Witnesses told authorities that McGee and a male suspect fled the scene in white Ford pick-up truck.

Later, Yazoo County Sheriff Jacob Sheriff stopped the vehicle just inside Yazoo County on Highway 3 near Eagle Bend Road. When Sheriff stopped the vehicle, the driver ran into the woods, while McGee remained and was taken into custody.

According to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, K-9 units with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office assisted Vicksburg Police Department personnel in the search for a male suspect. As of Friday evening, the suspect had been identified, but not captured.

Officials with the Vicksburg Police Department declined to release the male suspect’s name. In its release Friday, police said the shooting reportedly stemmed from an altercation on Thursday that involved both McGee and Luckett.

McGee will remain jailed in the Adams County Jail until Monday when she is expected to make her initial court appearance.

Friday’s murder is the second homicide in less than a week and the third of the year.
