Number of confirmed cases, deaths increase in Warren County

After two days without any new cases, Warren County reported two new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday and one additional virus-related death.

The death, which is the first reported since May 1, brings the total of virus-related deaths during the pandemic to five overall. Not only is it the fifth overall, but it is the third such death connected to one of the county’s long-term care facilities.

Overall, the number of cases reported in Warren County during the pandemic rose to 135 Tuesday.

Statewide, the number of confirmed cases during the pandemic grew by 272 overnight, with 27 additional virus-related deaths. Those numbers bring pandemic levels to 11,432 confirmed cases and 528 deaths.

Claiborne County reported additional cases Tuesday, bringing their total cases to 51. Yazoo County (192) and Sharkey County (7) also reported higher numbers.

Using the state’s guidelines, the number of active cases in Warren County stands at 47, with 34 of those cases being connected to long-term facilities.
