TALLULAH, La. — The search for a suspect who escaped Tuesday night from the Bayou Correctional Center in Tallulah ended peacefully late Wednesday night.

According to the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, Dylan Williams, 21, was taken into custody at the Madison Parish Hospital when an investigator with the Sheriff’s Office noticed an individual fitting Williams’ description and not wearing any shoes walk into the hospital’s lobby at around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Williams reportedly went into the lobby and sat down in what investigators believe was an attempt to get some shelter from the heavy rains that rolled through the area late Wednesday.

The investigator simply followed Williams into the lobby and took him into custody without incident.

Williams had been on the loose since late Tuesday night when he escaped from the Bayou Correctional Center. He reportedly scaled one of the facility’s walls and made his way through razor wire without sustaining any injuries.

Search teams, including those on horses and others using search dogs, scoured the area around the center throughout the night Tuesday and all day Wednesday.

The hospital is roughly two miles from the facility from which Williams escaped.

Williams, who is a Ville Platt, La., resident, was being held at the correctional center awaiting trial for a number of felonies in Evangeline Parish. Following his capture Wednesday night, he is being held at the Madison Parish Jail and charged with simple escape.

Officials with the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office declined to give a list of the felonies Williams is charged with.
