Letter to the editor: Peaceful protest is a tribute to all involved

Published 1:48 pm Tuesday, June 9, 2020

The recent protest march in downtown Vicksburg is a tribute to the citizens who organized it and to the city leaders and law enforcement officials, both city and county, who joined them and fully cooperated in that peaceful event.

It makes me proud to be a citizen of Vicksburg to know that working together — and involving all the players up front — were the most important factors in putting together this successful march. Such cooperation is the only way to make real change happen in any endeavor.

Thanks to the good people of Vicksburg and Warren County for supporting the peaceful platform that allowed people’s voices to be heard. And thanks to The Vicksburg Post for its editorial and excellent coverage of that day.
