As far as new cases of COVID-19 in Warren County, the past week has not seen what many had hoped would be a decline or flattening. In fact, the past week saw more cases per day on average than any seven-day period since the start of the pandemic in mid-March.

Over the past seven days, Warren County has seen 46 new cases confirmed, pushing the estimated active case total to 69 cases of Sunday.

Those new cases came at an average of 6.5 cases per day, compared to the week prior when the county saw an average of five cases per day on average.

In its reporting Sunday, the Mississippi State Department of Health announced four new cases in Warren County, bringing the overall number reported during the pandemic to 252.

Overall, the state reported 168 new cases statewide and two virus-related deaths. Those figures push the number of cases reported during the pandemic to 19,516 and 891 deaths. Of those deaths statewide, 12 have occurred in Warren County.

Yazoo County Sunday reported 348 overall cases with six virus-related deaths.

Claiborne County will host a drive-through test site Monday at Claiborne County Parks and Recreation, 1120 Highway 61 North, from noon until 4 p.m., now reports 138 cases with eight virus-related deaths.

Sharkey County continued to report eight cases, with just one of those cases believed to be active.

The number of cases in Madison Parish continues to rise as well. Sunday, the Louisiana Department of Health reported 270 total cases in the parish.

State health officials have also scheduled a one-day test site for Warren County for Thursday from noon until 4 p.m. at Pemberton Square Mall, 3505 Pemberton Square Blvd.

Or, they can call the UMMC Center for Telehealth at (601) 496-7200 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Anyone determined to need testing will be given an appointment date and time at the testing site most convenient.
