Summer tennis camp
The City of Vicksburg’s annual summer tennis camp will begin Monday, June 15 at Halls Ferry Park and continue through July.
The camp is open to children ages 5-18, and there is no charge to participate. Sessions run from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday. A junior team tennis session will also be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Adult softball league
Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult softball league will continue until June 19. Registration packets are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday at the Parks and Recreation offices at 100 Army-Navy Drive.
The cost is $175 per team, with an extra $10 fee for non-city residents and a $20 fee for residents of Sharkey, Issaquena, Claiborne and Hinds counties.
A mandatory coaches meeting will be held on June 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Parks and Rec office. All teams must have a representative at this meeting. For more information, call Parks and Rec director Joseph Graves at 601-634-4514.
St. Al, PCA physicals
Elite Performance and Rehab will conduct free athletic physicals for all high school athletes at St. Aloysius and Porter’s Chapel Academy on Saturday, June 27, from 8 to 11 a.m.
No appointment is necessary, but athletes must have a completed physical form that is available either at Elite or from their respective schools. Elite is located at 1901 A Mission 66.

VWSD physicals
The Vicksburg Warren School District will host free athletic physicals on Saturday, June 20, from 8 a.m. to noon at Warren Central High School. The physicals are for student-athletes entering grades 8-12, who have not had a physical since April 1, 2019 or are new to the school district. Any physicals conducted after that date are still valid for the 2020-21 school year.
All athletes attending the physicals must have a physical form that is available from their coach or can be printed off of the school district’s website at vwsd.org. Students will be scheduled by sport and must wear a face mask.
Vicksburg, WC volleyball tryouts
Tryouts for Vicksburg High and Warren Central’s volleyball teams have been scheduled in June.
To help comply with COVID-19 restrictions, tryouts for Vicksburg’s team will be by appointment only. Students can sign up for a tryout date and time by emailing coach Deborah Brown at dbrown@vwsd.org.
Warren Central’s tryouts are scheduled for June 23-26 at WC Junior High. Eighth-grade tryouts are June 23 and 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; seventh-grade tryouts are June 24 and 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and varsity and junior varsity tryouts are June 25 and 26 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Star Spangled Night Run 5K
Registration is now open for the Third Annual Star Spangled Night Run, a 5K run and race walk through downtown Vicksburg.
The race is scheduled for Saturday, June 27 at 8 p.m. and will begin and end at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center.
The entry fees are $30 for adults, and $15 for children 12 and under. The first 150 registered participants will be guaranteed a tank top, as well as a glow item.

Mississippi College football camp
Mississippi College will host its annual football camp on July 1 on its campus in Clinton. The camp costs $50 and will have two sessions.
Session I will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and is for offensive linemen, defensive linemen, running backs, linebackers, deep-snappers, kickers and punters.
Session II goes from 3 to 5 p.m. and is for quarterbacks, tight ends, wide receivers and defensive backs.
No walk-up registration is allowed, and players must bring their own water bottles. To register or for more information, visit mc.edu/mcfootballcamps.
