Mayor George Flaggs Jr. announced Tuesday evening he will hold a press conference Wednesday at city hall. According to a release from Flaggs’ office, the event will focus on the city’s ongoing response to the COVID-19 virus.

The press conference will be held at 10 a.m. and can be viewed live on The Vicksburg Post’s Facebook page.

Flaggs calling the press conference comes on the heels of spiking numbers of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Warren County. Tuesday, the Mississippi State Department of Health announced 16 new cases since Monday, bringing the number of cases reported in Warren County during the pandemic to 347.

Over the past seven days, the county has reported an overage of more than 12 cases per day. Also, as of Tuesday, the virus had claimed the lives of 14 county residents.
