Additional COVID-19 cases, death reported in Warren County

State health officials announced 11 new COVID-19 cases in Warren County and one additional virus-related death in its reporting Wednesday afternoon.

The new cases bring the total number of cases reported in Warren County during the pandemic to 358, with now 15 deaths.

In its report, the state said the death in Warren County was one of 12 reported Wednesday to have occurred between May 30 and June 14 “identified from death certificate reports.”

Overall, the state announced 526 new cases statewide, with 22 additional deaths. The number of cases reported during the pandemic in Mississippi has now reached 23,424, with 1,011 virus-related deaths.

The report also comes out just hours after Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. extended the city’s civil emergency orders and virus restrictions to July 13, and warned residents that additional restrictions could be implemented if the spike in recent numbers does not slow down.

In addition, the new cases push the number of estimated active cases to 111.

The number of cases reported in Claiborne County was 180, with nine deaths. Sharkey County reported 18 cases, while Issaquena County remained the only county in the state to not yet report a case.

Yazoo County, which has now surpassed 400 cases, reported 412 cases Wednesday, with six deaths.

Also Wednesday, Louisiana state health officials reported 322 cases in Madison Parish.
