Just a mannequin: First responders conduct rescue and retrieval training

It is not what you think. Don’t call 911.

Officials with Vicksburg-Warren 911 and the Bridge Commission said the Old Highway 80 Bridge is the site of rescue and retrieval training this morning with E3 Environmental out of Clinton.

In an effort to make the training as real as possible, officials are using mannequins, including one hanging from the side of the bridge. That particular mannequin is hanging from a harness, officials said, and not from the neck as it might appear to those passing by.

“We just wanted to let everyone know there is some rescue training taking place on the Old Hwy. 80 Bridge,” Vicksburg Warren 911 said in a Facebook post this morning. “They will be using mannequins that will occasionally hang from the bridge. We just didn’t want anyone to be alarmed.”
