The concern expressed by local elected officials and health officials last week has not been lessened as the number of new COVID-19 cases in Warren County continues to spike. Tuesday, state health officials announced 16 new cases overnight.

In addition to pushing the overall pandemic numbers in Warren County to now 425, the new cases also pushed the estimated number of active cases to a pandemic-high of 146.

In the past seven days, Warren County has reported 78 new cases, an average of just over 11 per day. Since the economy was reopened — marked locally by the opening of the four casinos in the county on May 21 — Warren County has seen 289 cases. That accounts for 68 percent of all cases reported since the start of the pandemic locally on March 29, when the first case in the county was reported.
