Number of COVID-19 cases in Warren County jumps once again

After two days of new case reports in single digits, the number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Warren County Tuesday jumped by 16 overnight. The new cases pushed the number of cases reported during the pandemic to 532.
Since July 1, the county has reported 117 new cases and one new virus-related death. The death, reported on July 3, was the 18th death connected to the virus in Warren County.
Overall, the state Tuesday reported 947 new cases and 44 new deaths. Of those deaths, 10 occurred between June 17 and June 28, identified from death certificate reports.
Since the state’s pandemic began on March 11, the health officials have reported 32,314 cases and 1,158 deaths.
Also in Tuesday’s report, the number of patients hospitalized hit its highest mark during the pandemic with 648 now in state hospitals. The number of patients in intensive care units (173) and on ventilators (95) was slightly higher Tuesday but on average with recent days.
Claiborne County is now reporting 284 cases with 10 virus-related deaths. Issaquena County Tuesday reported 10 cases and one death, while Sharkey County reported 37 deaths. State officials Tuesday reported 523 cases in Yazoo County with six deaths.
