Slight increase in COVID-19 cases reported in Warren County

The number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Warren County Sunday was the lowest one-day total in nearly a week, as six new cases were reported.

Overall, the number of cases reported in Warren County during the start of the pandemic hit 600 with Sunday’s report, with 21 virus-related deaths. The number of estimated active cases remained at 181.

State health officials announced a total of 868 new cases across the state and 19 additional deaths. Those new cases push the state’s total during the pandemic to 36,278 with 1,249 deaths.

While at still near-record highs for the pandemic, the number of patients hospitalized (703) and those in intensive care units (202) did dip slightly Sunday. But, the number of patients on ventilators increased to a pandemic-high of 107.

In Claiborne County, the number of cases reported moved to 308 overall with 11 deaths. In Yazoo County, the number of cases increased to 560 with now seven deaths.

Sharkey County on Sunday reported 48 cases, while Issaquena continues to report 10 cases and one death.
