A fight that broke out at LD’s Restaurant, 1111 Mulberry St., Sunday is going to prove costly for the restaurant’s owner.

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department were dispatched to a disturbance at the restaurant, where a number of people were involved in a fight just outside the restaurant’s doors.

In a video of the fight that has been circulated on social media, a large crowd is gathered outside the restaurant while individuals are fighting. It is that video, and the number of people at the establishment at the time of the fight, that is now leading to a $1,000 citation under the city’s current COVID-19 civil emergency orders.

Mayor George Flaggs Jr. said Vicksburg Police Chief Milton Moore has ordered the $1,000 citation be issued to the restaurant due to the fact the number of people at the restaurant exceeded the number of people currently allowed.

In the current order, restaurants and bars must operate at no more than 50 percent capacity. In the case of the video, city officials said the number of people at the restaurant at the time of the fight well exceeded the 50 percent capacity.
