The parking lot of Blackburn Motors on North Frontage Road will be transformed into a drive-in movie Friday night as the Vicksburg Cruisers present the movie “Grease” to kickoff its 14th annual Red Carpet Classic Auto Show.

“Everyone is welcome to come; they can bring their lawn chairs, sit in their truck or vehicle if they like. They can bring a blanket and spread it out on the grass,” said Cruisers member Lanz Dorrell. “We’ll have masks; if they want a mask we’ll be glad to issue them a mask.”

Dorrell said the gates open for the move at 6 p.m., with the movie beginning after sunset. There is no charge to watch the movie or attend the Saturday car show.

The car show goes from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Blackburn, with awards presented at 2 p.m. in the categories of People’s Choice, Sweet 16, Promoter’s Pick, Best Rat Rod and Best Motorcycle. There will also be a vendor area, a swap meet and a raffle.

Registration for the show is from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The preregistration fee is $20 and $25 the day of the show. Dash plaques will be presented to the first 100 entries.

Proceeds from the show benefit Dr. Dan Edney’s Renewal House program, a Christian sober living home for low-income men that is based on the 12-step recovery principles and includes work placement and financial training programs.

“They (the residents) actually come out and help us set up the big, blow-up screen and they will cook hamburgers and hot dogs Friday and Saturday,” Dorrell said.

Dorrell said the show is open to all cars.

“If you’ve got a fairly new car that you’re in love with and you’ve put a lot of money into it we take you in our club,” he said. “In the past, we had some antique tractors, usually we have some army jeeps, we have some motorcycles and we’ll hopefully have a lot of cars — hot rods and street rods.”
