County golf championship
Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina will host the Warren County Championship July 25 and 26. The County Championship is open to all golfers 16 years and older, and golfers do not need to be a Warren County resident to enter. The entry fee for the 36-hole, two-day tournament is $110. Golfers should call the Clear Creek clubhouse at 601-638-9395 to register or for more information.

VHS soccer tryouts
Tryouts for Vicksburg High’s girls and boys soccer teams have been scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1, at VHS’ Memorial Stadium. Tryouts for the girls’ team will be at 10 a.m., and the boys at noon. All players should have completed physical and concussion forms, shinguards, and their own water. For more information, contact coach Ernest Dixon at edixon@vwsd.org.

WC soccer tryouts
Tryouts for Warren Central’s soccer teams will be held July 27-31 at the school’s practice field along Mississippi 27. Tryouts are open to all players in grades 7-12, and players must have completed physical and concussion forms, shinguards, and their own water.
Tryouts for the girls’ team will be held July 27 and 28, at 4 p.m. each day.
Tryouts for the boys’ team will be July 30 and 31, at 4 p.m. each day.
Returning players may contact coach Greg Head at 601-631-1257 to sign up. All new players must sign up at the practice field on July 24 (girls) or July 28 (boys), from 4 to 5:30 p.m., to get the appropriate paperwork.

YMCA football registration
Registration for the Vicksburg YMCA’s 2020 flag football season is now open and will continue until Sept. 1. The league is open to players in kindergarten through sixth grade, and will be broken up into several age divisions.

The registration fee is $50 for YMCA members and $70 for non-members. Parents can register their children at the Purks YMCA, online at vicksburgymca.com, or by calling 601-638-1071.

MAIS fishing tournament
The Mid-South Association of Independent Schools will conduct its July Slam Fishing Tournament through July 31.

The tournament is open to all students at MAIS member schools, and there is a $10 entry fee. It is a virtual tournament, where anglers fish at their own pace and locations throughout July and submit results through the Fishing Chaos app. The app is available at the Apple App Store. Google Play Store, or at app.fishingchaos.com.

Fishermen may submit catches of bass, freshwater catfish or bream. Prizes will be awarded for the lunker fish of each species and aggregate length of the five largest fish per angler. The fish must be fresh and visibly alive when photographed for submission, and participants are encouraged to practice catch, photo and release.

RedHawks baseball tryouts
Tryouts for the Mississippi RedHawks Youth Baseball Organization will conduct tryouts for its teams in the 7U, 8U, 9U and 10U age divisions between July 27 and Aug. 2. The team is based in Raymond, and all tryout sessions will be at Mid-Point Park in Raymond.
Tryouts for the 7U, 8U and 10U divisions will be on July 27 at 6 p.m., and an additional 7U tryout will be held at 6 p.m. on July 29. Tryouts for the 9U team are Aug. 2 at 4:30 p.m.
