WATCH: Waterline leak on Halls Ferry Rd. causes road closure

Published 3:22 pm Monday, July 27, 2020

Halls Ferry Road between Williams Road and Cane Ridge Road was closed off to traffic early Monday afternoon after a waterline leak caused the asphalt on Halls Ferry Road to break.

Water service was cut off to an estimated 100 customers in an area including Cain Ridge Road, Williams Road and along Halls Ferry to South Frontage Road.

“We’re not really sure what we have,” water and gas superintendent Dane Lovell said, pointing out that three waterlines run under the affected area of Halls Ferry. “We’ll know more when get down there.”

City utilities and street department workers were notified of the leak about 2:15 p.m. Monday, but later opened a section of the road to two-way traffic.

About 400 feet of Halls Ferry Road between Williams Road was affected, with water causing sections of the street’s asphalt to bulge and crack as it broke to the surface.
