Trustees vote to continue with school reopening plans

The Vicksburg Warren School District Board of Trustees Thursday evening reinforced their previous decisions by voting to start school Friday, Aug. 7, with parents being given the option to have kids return in person to the classroom, or participate in online distance learning.

Trustee Alonzo Stevens made a motion to move the district to an online-only system for the first six days of the school year, with Trustee President Jim Stirgus Jr. seconding the motion. But that motion failed as Trustees Sally Bullard, Bryan Pratt and Kimble Slayton all voted against the change.

The Vicksburg Post has a reporter at the meeting and will update the story shortly.
