Traffic stop results in arrest on firearms charge

A traffic stop early Friday for no car tag resulted in the arrest of a Vicksburg man on a charge of possession of a stolen firearm.

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department’s Narcotics/NET Team arrested Cartez Evans, 21, during the 1 a.m. stop on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard after a records check on the gun indicated it was reported stolen in Natchez.

Evans was being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.

In other cases:

• Tyler Mixon, 20, of Vicksburg was arrested Thursday on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.

• A generator, two Makita SDS max drills, two rebar cutters, a chop saw, two hammer drills, two wood drills, and two water pumps with an estimated value of $5,720.00 were reported stolen about 6:33 a.m. Thursday from a construction site at Vicksburg High School Stadium.
