Vicksburg native and Tennessee Titans cornerback Malcolm Butler is still finding ways of giving back to the community while away.

With the school year starting this month, 300 bags of school supplies were given away to the students of Vicksburg and Warren County through a partnership between Malcolm Butler, McDonald’s, Kroger, and Nike at the Vicksburg Warren School District Office on Saturday.

Butler held his sixth annual football camp virtually in July. He engaged with young football players and led them through a workout through video conferencing rather than in-person as in years past.

“Even during the pandemic (Malcolm) still wanted to give back to Vicksburg so we held a virtual camp and that got a lot of engagement from the kids and he wanted to do more and knows education stills needs to happen,” said Larry Lundy, President of Lundy Marketing Group, which represents Butler.

The school supply giveaway is one of a number of charitable works Butler has arranged for his hometown. In addition to his annual football camp, in April he donated several hundred grab-and-go meals for the elderly to help them during the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic. Butler has also made regular appearances at his alma mater Vicksburg High school since reaching the NFL in 2014, and donated to other causes around the city.

“Malcolm loves Vicksburg, he reps Vicksburg wherever he goes and whatever Vicksburg needs that he can do he’s going to do it,” said Lundy.
