Fred retired in 1994 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after 41 years with the Vicksburg District and the Mississippi River Commission, where he was very proud of the men and women with whom he worked at the Corps.

Fred was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church and later Little River United Methodist Church (Woodstock, Ga.), and was an active volunteer leader with the Vicksburg YMCA for many years.

Fred was a civil engineering graduate of Mississippi State University and after retirement enjoyed attending hundreds of baseball, basketball and football games in Starkville. Fred and Ridgely moved to the Atlanta area in 2011 to be closer to their son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss him greatly but know he is now in a better place and a better condition.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Crawford Street UMC, Little River UMC or the Alzheimer’s Association.

In light of the current COVID-19 situation, the family has decided to not hold a service. Those wishing to send online condolences may do so at www.lakesidefuneralhomega.com, or mail to the family at the Woodstock, Ga. address.
