Supervisors expected to extend COVID-19 orders, mask mandate

The Warren County Board of Supervisors is likely to extend the current COVID-19 civil emergency orders through at least the first of October.

During Monday’s work session, supervisors voiced support to continue the ongoing social distancing measures, restrictions on gatherings and mask mandate to at least Oct. 5.

The measure to extend the orders and mask mandate is expected to be the agenda for the supervisors’ next meeting on Sept. 8.

Even though the supervisors said the current order would likely be extended, it does mirror the restrictions and mandates put in place by Gov. Tate Reeves.

The state’s orders — which include a statewide mask mandate — are set to expire Monday, Aug. 31, but are likely to be extended.

Board of Supervisors President Dr. Jeff Holland said whatever changes the state makes in their orders next week, will be included in the orders the county extends through Oct. 5.
