Funeral services for D.C. Kennedy will be held Friday, Aug. 28, 2020, in the Chapel of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joe Harris officiating. Interment shall follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with social distancing guidelines and facial coverings to worn inside at all times.

D.C. Kennedy passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2020, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was 92. He was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was a member of the Bright Morning Star M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents D.C. and Sophia Harris Kennedy; his wife, Nellie Kennedy; son, Daniel C. Kennedy III; his brothers, Johnny Kennedy, George Kennedy, Issac Kennedy; and his sister, Helen Kennedy Holmes.

He is survived by his two daughters, Betty Hollard of Los Angeles, Samantha King of Vicksburg; niece, Sharlyn Wilkinson of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and numerous grandchildren.
