William Percy Eugene Jackson, 51, transitioned to his eternal home Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, at Merit Health Central Hospital, Jackson. Affectionately known as “Wil,” was born June 17, 1969, in Vicksburg the only son of Irma Jackson.

William was educated in the Vicksburg School system and baptized at Bethel A.M.E. Church. He would venture to California, joining his mom and sisters and putting down roots becoming a master welder and pipefitter. He was also an avid Harley cruiser.

In late 2018 “Wil” decided to move back south; relocating to Florida and pursuing a dream of starting his own business. Unfortunately, the 2020 pandemic caused him to put his business dream on hold. So he sought to achieve his ultimate dream and searched for an opportunity that would enable him to return home to Mississippi. Just three months into making his relocation a reality, tragedy would have the Lord call him home.

“Wil” was one of a kind. He always kept a bright smile and wanted everyone to smile with him. He never met a person that he couldn’t joke with. He loved family and immensely enjoyed family gatherings. His work ethic was his badge of honor, and he was devoted to every endeavor.

He loved his gospel, country, bluegrass, blues and R&B music and would dance from the first to the last note. He was just happy, contagiously so.

William was preceded in death by his infant son, William Jackson; adored granny, Dolores Thomas Bullock; aunt, Dolores Jackson; and cousins, Keaten Jackson and McKinley “Jamal” Thomas.

William is survived by his children, Alfonso William Jackson of Perris, Calif., Chanel Garcia, and Mariah Jackson, both of Modesto, Calif; mother, Irma Jackson-Wright of Compton, Calif.; and sisters, Hattie Jackson of Moreno Valley, Calif. and Madelyn Jackson-Shaw (Terron) of Compton, Calif.

“Wil” was an awesome father-figure to Stacie “Grandma” Dart of Los Angeles, and KaTrina Miles of Paramount, Calif.; and grandfather to Jaymani Dedmen and Jayveon Townsend. Also mourning Wil’s passing is his surviving partner, Teresa Tucker, Wesley Chapel, Fla.; a niece; four nephews; a great-niece; four great-nephews; two proud fathering uncles; four mothering aunts; and a host of loving cousins and dear, dear friends.

CJ Williams Mortuary is entrusted with William’s care. There’s no visitation.

A virtual celebration of life will be held Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, at 1 p.m. (CST) or 11 a.m. (PST).
