Graveside services for Matthew L. Williams will be held Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Barrett Lewis officiating.  

Matthew L. Williams passed away on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2020, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 72. He was a retired mechanic and tire man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Williams Sr. and Lucy Mae Priestly; his brothers, Tommy Newsom and Melvin Williams; his sisters, Mary Ann Brown and Mattie Mae.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Williams of Vicksburg; his five sons, Matthew Durrell Williams, Eric Williams, Marcus Willis and Larry Blackmore all of Vicksburg and Derrick Williams of Monroe, La.; his three daughters Ebony Williams, Charity Williams and Sharon Blackmore all of Vicksburg; his seven brothers, Buck Dave Williams of Shreveport, La., Johnnie Williams, Dave Williams, Earl Williams, Joseph Williams, Mike Williams all of Seaside, Calif. and Amos Griffin of Greensboro, N.C.; and his sister, Augustine Matthews of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Regina Tate of Chicago.
