The Vicksburg National Military Park announced Friday the park will host an in-person event to mark National Public Lands Day.

The park said the event, which is one where volunteers and groups are encouraged to participate in helping complete a service project in the park, will be Saturday, Sept. 26 from 8 a.m. until noon. The project will focus on cleaning the red and blue War Department tablets throughout the park, a process that was started recently by an AmeriCorps team.

But, in order to comply with social distancing guidelines put in place by the National park Service, the event can only welcome 50 volunteers.
