The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for an 18-wheeler involved in a Sunday morning hit-and-run wreck on Interstate 20 near the Black River bridge that resulted in a car fire.

The wreck occurred about 11:31 a.m.

According to MHP reports, a maroon 2004 Chevrolet Malibu was westbound on I-20 near the bridge on the Warren County side when the driver lost control and struck a concrete barrier on the right side of the highway.

The car re-entered the highway and collided with the front of the unidentified 18-wheeler. The collision caused the semi to push the Malibu into the cable wires in the center of the highway, causing it to burst into flames.

The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Merit Health River Region.

Warren County fire coordinator Jerry Briggs said the car was fully involved when Bovina firefighters arrived on the scene.

Besides Bovina, Vicksburg fire and rescue and ambulance also responded to the wreck.
