Deputies arriving at the scene found Powell lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to Merit Health River Region where he was pronounced dead by doctors in the hospital emergency room about 1:08 a.m.

An autopsy has been ordered.

Pace said the shooting remains under investigation.

“We have worked through the night on this case and we are working on some promising leads, but we have made no arrests at this time,” Pace said.
