Phyllis Wilson Mobley

Phyllis Wilson Mobley, 81, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020.

Phyllis was born on June 24, 1939, in Yazoo City. She graduated from Carr Central High School in 1957. After graduating high school she married Luke Mobley and they moved to Hattiesburg where Luke attended University of Southern Mississippi.

Phyllis held several different professions but what she loved most was owning her daycare, where she raised many children in Vicksburg. Phyllis also left her mark on downtown Vicksburg with the “Turkey Supreme” from the Downton Deli.

Phyllis spent her life serving The Lord in all aspects of the church, but she had a special calling for children’s ministry. She served as a Sunday School teacher, puppet ministry director, children’s choir director and in recent years she was a part of The Good News Club. She touched many lives through her service in the children’s ministry. Phyllis was an active member of the Steele Magnolias of Bovina Baptist church.

Phyllis was proceeded in death by her parents, Pete and Louise Wilson; and her husband, Luther Edwin Mobley Jr.

Phyllis is survived by her four children, Nancy Melancon (Ray), Geni Fulcher (Bill), Luther E Mobley III (Adrienne) of Laurel and Allyson Collins (Bryan) of Clinton; her 10 grandchildren, Desi Melancon Goodson, Emily Melancon Muirhead, Anna Melancon Tillotson, Ryan Adam Fulcher, Ansley Fulcher Hinton, Zac Collins, Abi Collins, Megan Collins, Trip Mobley and Gage Mobley’; and nine great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Martha Mobley; one niece, Terry Brumfield; and one nephew, Bill Mobley Jr.

The service will be held at Bovina Baptist Church on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
