One person shot in a Sunday evening incident on MLK Boulevard

One person was shot Sunday afternoon in the 1400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

According to the Vicksburg Police Department, the victim, a male, was transported to Merit Health River Region by personal vehicle. The call of the shooting came in just after 5 p.m.

Officials with the department said the victim, identified as Elijah Qualls Jr., 21, was shot once in the torso. As of 8 p.m. Sunday, an update on Qualls’ condition was not available nor was there any information available in regards to a suspect.
