Published 7:42 am Monday, October 19, 2020

In a year where so many events have been postponed or canceled, the Vicksburg Convention Center announced that one holiday season mainstay will go on as scheduled.

In a press release, the Vicksburg Convention Center and VenuWorks said it will present the 19th annual Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 12 from 8 to10 a.m.

Even though the event will take place, there will be some COVID-19 measures in place to ensure it will remain safe for the entire family.

Activities will include a socially-distanced meeting and photo with Santa at his desk, crafts to take home, door prizes and McDonald’s breakfast.

Santa will once again give away his bag of toys and electronics to the winner of a raffle.

As with each year, space is limited and tickets will be on sale beginning Nov. 2 through Ticketmaster or the Vicksburg Convention Center box office. Tickets are $7 in advance and, if  any are still available, tickets the day of the event will be $10. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

The event is sponsored by McDonald’s, Walmart, Mutual Credit Union, Terry Service Inc., Golding Barge Line Inc., Hometown Medical, WaterView Casino, Home Depot and International Paper.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mississippi supports the well-being of children and families through programs that give comfort, compassion and care.

The house is located on the campus of the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The house serves as a home-away-from-home for families who have children receiving specialized medical care throughout the Jackson area.

Raffle tickets for Santa’s bag can be purchased in advance at the Vicksburg Convention business office or during the breakfast ($1 per raffle ticket or six raffle tickets for $5). Raffle winners must be present to win.

For tickets or more information contact Sue Bagby at 601-630-2929 or email sueb@vicksburg.org.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be updated and enhanced cleaning and safety protocols to help ensure the safety and security of everyone who attends.

There will be configured seating to allow for social distancing. Temperature checks will be conducted at entry points and masks will be required for all attendees and staff.
