George Graham Grant

Mr. George Graham Grant, 85, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford.

Born in Natchez to the late William Grant and Elmira Windham Craven, Cpl. Grant served in the U.S. Army. He was a 1953 graduate of United Vocational High School in Red Lick, a retiree from Marathon LeTourneau, and was the former owner of Eastside Beverage in Vicksburg.

Mr. Grant enjoyed spending his time gardening, woodworking and reading Zane Grey Western novels.

In addition to his mother and father, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Otha Craven; step-brothers, Leo Craven, Darrell Craven, Pascal Craven and Jackie Craven; and half-brother, Sidney Craven.

Mr. Grant is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie Thompson Grant of Water Valley; a daughter, Cynthia Hallberg and her husband, Chuck of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Tony Grant and his wife, Deborah of Oxford, and Lee Grant and his wife, Lisa of Vicksburg; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Odom, the staff, and the nurses at the Yalobusha County Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
