Merit Health Medical Group, in Vicksburg, is proud to welcome a new addition to its medical staff, Dr. Constance Barnes-Woods, Pediatrics.

Barnes-Woods joins Merit Health from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where she recently completed her residency in Pediatric Medicine and where she also earlier received her Doctor of Medicine. 

When asked why she chose pediatrics, Barnes-Woods stated, “I like to say that pediatrics chose me. I became curious about medicine at an early age, and my love for children has been ever-present.” 

“Those two passions together helped solidify my decision,” she said. “I started medical school knowing that I wanted to become a pediatrician.”

Barnes-Woods and her husband, Dr. Antwon Woods, have a 19-month-old daughter, Bella Elizabeth. In regards to what attracted her to Vicksburg and Merit Health River Region, she stated, “Vicksburg has the feel of family and community, and everyone welcomed me the moment I walked through the doors of Merit Health River Region.”  

Barnes-Woods is now accepting patients and her office is located in the Merit Health Medical Group pediatric clinic at 2100 Hwy 61 North, Vicksburg (601-883-3320).

• Newborn, pediatric and adolescent well visits 
• Full laboratory and X-ray services 
• Physical exams, including school, camp and sports physicals 
• Immunizations 
• Vision and hearing screenings 
• Common illnesses, including cold, cough, flu and sore throat
