Tavares Johnson, a former Vicksburg High football coach, was hired as the head coach at Mississippi Delta Community College.

Simmons coached at Vicksburg in 2012 and 2013, and was most recently the head coach at Hollandale Simmons where he led the Blue Devils to the MHSAA Class 1A championship game in 2021. He won the Class 1A championship in 2015 and 2016 during a previous stint at Simmons, and also reached the Class 2A title game in 2019 with North Side High School and the Class 3A title game with Cleveland East Side in 2011.
